ColdTowne Theater is first and foremost a training center for folx interested in pursuing a career or community involvement through improv, sketch, stand-up and alternative comedy. At ColdTowne, we serve the greater Austin community by providing accessible comedy shows at accessible prices. Accessibility and inclusion is at the center of our business practice. ColdTowne Theater has offered financial incentives for producing shows in our spaces for over 16 years. This includes door-sales percentages paid directly to the show-runner / producer. Individual performance rates are paid at the discretion of the individual show-runner. Resident shows are paid a percentage of door sales based on frequency of show and time-slot allotted. ColdTowne will also include stipends for design, paid marketing for your show, free rehearsal space, and staff support. As shows increase performance and profitability, rates increase. Improv troupes, student troupes, one-off work-shop shows, ColdTowne sponsored shows, community events, open-mics and other shows are considered “practice” or “workshops” (whether or not there is a paying audience), and therefore do not receive a payout percentage of the box office.
