Being a teenager is universally difficult, distinguished by a search for identity and a tendency to act against one’s better judgement. Junior Year Abroad places these personal struggles on a continent-sized stage, following a group of high school Student Leaders on their pan-European class trip as they explore, bicker, posture, and pretend like each new experience is old news to them.

Presented by actual teenagers for anyone with a sense of humor, Junior Year Abroad will send the Greenwood High Student Leaders to a new country every week, allowing them free rein thousands of miles (or is that kilometers?) from their homes and comfort zones. The audience can sit back as the teens stir up drama and insanity and maybe even engage in a bit of self-examination, leaving a mess in their wake and being altogether terrible tourists.

Directors Kevin Anderson (Old Love, Angola) and Nathan Sowell (Friends for Now, Angola) will bring the vacation to life, with technical director Claire Sudolsky (Echo Lake) providing the effects necessary for the show to flow. Creative Director, Kristin Henn, has trained most of the cast of teens through their formative years in ColdTowne’s youth program, Excused Absence.

Junior Year Abroad features teen troupe Montmoreau, with members Asher Koppel, Atticus Mixson, Kevin Murray, Zoë Rabinowitz, Emie Salome, and Zack Shell. They will be joined by a different adult improviser playing the group’s chaperone each week. Mark your calendars to see some of ColdTowne’s favorite performers including Kenah Benefield, Josephh Stahlman, Luke Wallens, and Michael Jastroch.
