Austin Sketch Fest is 2 back-to-back weekends of sketch comedy gold August 14 – 23 at ColdTowne Theater. ASF showcases the best scripted comedy from Austin and the wilderness beyond.

Black Best Friend hilariously dissects Black media tropes with satirical sketches, comedic songs, and recognizable characters. From Black conservatives to Love is Blind contestants, Colette (who has been called the Oprah of comedy) deconstructs sexuality, religion, and everything in between. The result is an unforgettable evening of belly laughs, head nods, and songs you’ll be singing in the shower. Awarded “Favorite Sketch or Variety Performance by a Group or Individual” at the 2024 Pack Hollywood Festival, Black Best Friend will leave you thinking about what it is to be a “Token Black Face“ in a predominantly white space.

Rochelle McConico is an Austin-born comedian, writer, producer, and community builder. She was named the 2023 Austin Chronicle Critic’s Pick for “Best All-Around Champion of Comedy,” nominated for Best Comedian in Austin in 2024, and has performed at the Moontower Comedy Festival. She also co-founded the Lysistrata Comedy Festival and hosts The Morning Grind on KAZI 88.7 FM.
