A Foreword from the Curator, Jenn Rosario:
Someone once said to me “There isn’t just one way to be Black”, and as basic as that sounds, it was so liberating to hear. As a Black woman and an Afro-Latina, I sometimes felt that my experience was too different from other Black people. I struggled to define what being Black meant to me, and how I could incorporate that into my work.
But as I began to explore my creativity more, I realized that Black can mean whatever I want it to mean. Whether i’m making a dress, or writing a poem, or just goofing off with my friends doing improv, everything I make is Black. My intention in curating this virtual exhibit is to highlight a variety of Black artists and content creators in our community, and show how they weave their unique experiences into their work. All Black Everything, all in their own way.
You can support these artists by buying, sharing, and following. Happy Black History Month!
