This Labor Day weekend, over 500 improv, sketch and stand up comedy performers from all over the world will descend on the Austin metro area for The Out of Bounds Comedy Festival. Now in its 9th year, the festival will take place across 7 days and 7 stages and include 4 international acts.
The COLDTOWNE THEATER MARATHON promises to be where the action is, featuring over 6 hours of the brightest, ballsiest up-and-coming improvisors from the four corners of the country. Not just twice: thrice. Thursday, Friday and Saturday. That's a lot of comedy, but the sweet deal is that YOU ONLY PAY ONCE AND YOU CAN WATCH COMEDY ALL NIGHT.
A non-stop string of shows for the killer price of one. There isn't a better way to taste OOB. Mmmmmmm, marathon.
Visit our donations page! Our community of artists, comedians and nerd do wells is bursting at the seams. We’ve grown from a humble 900 square foot room in the back of I Luv Video with three shows a week to over 15 shows a week, 130 active performers, 10 faculty members, 100 students, and hundreds more graduates from our improv and sketch comedy programs. We need more space.
We CANNOT make the move without your help. There’s no looking back now. Renovations alone will cost in excess of $25,000 (you’d be surprised how expensive a little thing like operating legally costs). There are ways you can help. If there's one thing that the 1987 Marc Harmon/Kirstie Alley vehicle Summer School taught us, it's that being cooped up inside with a bunch of nerds and misfits while everyone else is enjoying their summer vacation is awesome.
ColdTowne Theater is the ONLY CENTER for IMPROV and SKETCH comedy training, private events and corporate workshops approved by the Princeton Review and accepted as course credit at every accredited university on Earth.
Our instructors have taught, trained, directed and performed at world's foremost comedy institutions (Second City, IO, UCB) and have been voted "Best Comedy Group" three years in a row! AUSTIN IMPROV CLASSES ARE ENROLLING NOW FOR THE BEGINNING OF OCTOBER.
ColdTowne Theater is Austin's main stage for alternative comedy. We currently run shows Thursday through Monday, featuring the funniest comedians in Central Texas. We also run a conservatory offering the most fun acting classes Austin has to offer.
